About

The Natural Resources and Environmental Science (NRES) major is an interdisciplinary program designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and field experiences necessary for a career in environmental science, natural resource management, environmental consulting, or for graduate work and training. The curriculum includeds instruction in the key disciplines essential for finding solutions to environmental issues. Students tailor their program to their interests by selecting an Analytical Skill Development option and an Environmental Systems Emphasis Area. The cirriculum emphasizes experiential learning through extended field experience(s), off-campus internship(s), and/or independent research.
Oversight for the program is provided by a Steering Committee made up of faculty from departments with the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, College of Arts & Sciences, and UK Transportation Services.
