Lexi Neukirch, one of our NRES students, is studying abroad this summer in New Zealand and will be sharing a post with us weekly on our Facebook page. Here is her first post!

Kia ora! My first two weeks in New Zealand have been a whirlwind of excitement and travel. I first arrived in Auckland after 25 hours of flight time, and joined my group of from Arcadia University. Our Arcadia group consists of students from Universities across the US. We traveled together for one day in Auckland, and three days in Rotorua, an active geothermal area where we saw unique geological features, soaked in hot springs, and went zorbing. We then flew together to Dunedin, on the South Island, where we are all attending the University of Otago. The University system is very different in New Zealand, and is taking some time to figure out. I am taking Environmental Management, Freshwater Ecology, International Marketing, and Biostatistics courses while I am here, all of which are very interesting so far. I am living the Scarfie (Uni student) lifestyle, and sharing a flat with other University students. I live with two students from Boston, one from London, and one Kiwi, all of whom are a blast so far. I have also had a great time hiking in the hills around Dunedin (in spite of some snow), exploring the city, and bonding with my flat mates. I am looking forward to a great semester with many adventures ahead!
