All majors welcome, this mostly undergraduate club attends conclave where they compete against other SEC forestry schools in timber sports. They also have events to raise funds for this activity. The club participates in community activities such as Reforest the Bluegrass. Membership builds professional networks and resumes.

Green Thumb Environmental Club
This is the state’s largest environmental club. In past years, members of the Green Thumb have taken a lead in Earth Day celebrations in April, encouraged recycling and biking on campus, protested the use of coal and other fossil fuels, and related activities. In past years, NRCM majors have not only participated but have been officers in this Club.

Student Sustainability Council
The Student Sustainability Council (SSC) manages the Environmental Stewardship student fee each semester. The purpose of this fee and of the SSC is to promote a culture of sustainability at the University of Kentucky through participatory educational programming, short-term resource conservation and long-term sustainability initiatives developed and completed by students and designed to create a balance between ecological integrity, economic equity and social inclusion at UK. Membership is by application only, but each meeting is open to the public and the group always welcomes ideas via e-mail at ukysustain@gmail.com.

Geology Club
The Geology Club’s mission is to join people together with a common interest in the outdoors and, more specifically, geology. Through exploration of Kentucky’s geological features and other activities, this club learns more about the geology around Kentucky while enjoying the company of other students and friends.

Kentuckians for the Commonwealth
This is the UK branch of a state-wide, progressive, grassroots organization dedicated to issues of social justice. These issues include: voter empowerment, mountain top removal and other issues of sustainability, and general social justice causes including LGBT fairness, tax justice, etc. This organization tries to create social change through outreach, education, civilian lobbying in Frankfort, and much more.

Outdoor Pursuits
The University of Kentucky Outdoor Pursuits program provides outdoor recreation and education opportunities to the UK community such as climbing, backpacking, and whitewater rafting throughout the state and the nation. The club is located on the first floor of the Johnson Center, across from the climbing wall.

Geographical Society
This club is a group of students that welcome all who are interested in seeking answers to questions about, or ways to approach and understand, the physical and human world through both on- and off-campus meetings, discussions, and events. The most classic UKGS events have been the Free Pizza Dinner mayhem at Joe Balogna's sponsored by the Geography department and the Cave Trip every Fall semester.
