Angela Poe is the Progarm Manager Sr. for Public Information and Engagement for the Department of Environmental Quality and Public Works in Lexington, KY.
Prior to working at the city, Angela was the Sustainability Director at Transylvania University where she worked to integrate sustainability into the intellectual and social lives of students, faculty, and staff by encouraging study, discussion, and participation in sustainable practices on campus and in the community. She teaches NRE 390—Environmental Communications for UK's NRES program.
She served on the Keep Lexington Beautiful Commission, and is involved with the Kentucky Association for Environmental Education. Though she will confess to being a native of the Buckeye State, Angela is a Kentuckian at heart. She moved to the Commonwealth to attend the University of Kentucky where she earned a B.S. in Natural Resource Conservation and Management.
She worked as the Fayette County Conservation District’s first Education Outreach Coordinator and as a seasonal educator with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation before taking on the role of Executive Director at Bluegrass PRIDE, now Bluegrass Greensource. After five years at PRIDE and a year as a stay-at-home mom, Angela returned to school at The Ohio State University where she earned an M.A. in Communication, focusing on persuasion and behavior change in the context of environmental issues.
